Reflections in the Park

Katherine and I went to Reflections in the Park at Louis Murphy Park in Dubuque. We didn't know what it was going to be but it was pretty cool. You paid admission to drive through the park and look at all the displays. We got out of the car a few times (although I don't think you are supposed to get out of your car). I brought my tripod and quickly tried to take a few shots. I got some good ones, but more bad ones than I wish. This specific display is a recreation of the clock tower that is in downtown Dubuque.

2015 Christmas Photo

Katherine and I managed to get a Christmas tree in my small Toyota Corolla (we completely fit it in my car - trunk closed and all) on our way back from the airport from coming home from Thanksgiving. We promptly set it up and got our apartment decorated. Happy holidays from the Clarxen (Clark + Marxen) home!

Day at the Museum

Katherine and I went down to the Mississippi River Museum because the weather wasn't that great and we didn't have anything else to do. Since we are museum members we get in for free, which was great for a rainy day.
This was an exhibit that was about the Mississippi and the animals on it. Nobody was at the museum so we took the time to take some photos with my mini tripod.

Pecan Pie For Christmas

I wanted to make a pie for Christmas. I chose a pecan pie because I've never made one before and it sounded good. I didn't bake it quite right (it was a little runny on the inside and the top didn't get a good candy-like coating). It was still a delicious pie and something that I'll try again. I followed this recipe with the suggestions from the comments. Definitely a recipe I will keep!

Annual Hammond's Candy Tour

Katherine and I always go to the Hammond's Candy Factory every year. We go on the short tour that I try and take photos through glass which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. This year since it was so close to Christmas, we decided to get there when they opened. Before they would let us in I took some photos on the outside of the building with the sun glaring on the front.

Lit House Hunting

Katherine and I drove around looking at Christmas lights. It was a little clod and windy so I didn't get out of the car much, but this house was worth getting out and being cold for a little bit.
