Boyd Lake Wintery Walk

Katie and I planned on going to Rocky Mountain National Park today, but because of some delays in some home improvement I was doing before we were going to leave and because of the wind in the park, we decided to go somewhere local. We went over and parked at Seven Lakes Park and walked along the West side of Boyd Lake. The weather was really nice, upper 40's when we got there and lower 50's when we got back to the car. It was a nice way to get out of the house since our original plan was changed.

Blue Blood Super Moon

Today there was a blue, blood, super lunar eclipse. I didn't wake up early enough to catch the lunar eclipse, but I did manage to get a few shots of the blue blood super moon before I had to go to work.

This is the second full moon of the month, making it a blue moon. The partial lunar eclipse gave the moon the orangery red color as the moon started to go into the penumbra of the Earth, which is why it's called a blood moon. Lastly, this was a super moon, when the full moon and the closest the moon is to Earth happens on the same day. The moon was approximately 14% bigger today than it usually is.
