CSU Trial Gardens
We didn't have time last weekend to go to the CSU Trial Gardens which is usually the time we make a trip out to these beautiful gardens. Despite being busy, we still made it here to do our annual photoshoot which is now 3 years running, so I guess it's a tradition for us to come here. I think next year we'll try to get to the gardens a little earlier (mid-August) because many of the flowers were already withering. There were still plenty of flowers for us in full bloom, but it seems like every year when we finally remember to come here we show up just a little past peak bloom.
Pink Dahlia
Vibrant
This is another Dahlia, which is weird because it looks nothing like a typical Dahlia.
Crisp Wings
I don't know that I've gotten this crisp of a shot of a bee before with my camera.
Pointy
I like taking photos of this Strawflower because of all the depth of layers that the petals have.
African Daisies
Both Katie and my favorite flower to shoot at the gardens are African Daisies.

Two
I was lucky to get both of these insects in the same shot while using my lens extensions to get a pretty close up photo. The depth of field isn't as large as I would have liked it to be, but they're mostly in focus.
At the Gardens
This has become somewhat of a tradition for us to go shoot the flowers together. I imagine we'll keep coming here for many years to come.

Little Bit of Sunshine
The light was coming in and out the entire time we were there due to some low clouds in the horizon. Most of the shots I got were in either complete sun or complete shade, but this one shot was near perfect golden lighting form the sun barely peaking through some clouds.
Through the Flowers
Fast moth
There were several giant moths flying around. At first, because of their size and speed, I thought they were hummingbirds. I was glad I caught some photos of them.
Hibiscus
The CSU Trial Gardens were growing many different types of Hibiscus. It's such a weird flower because of its size.
Gray
There were some gray hibiscus flowers at the CSU Trial gardens. Gray is such a weird color for flower petals and such a hard color to capture on the camera.
