Star Photography

Valley View is a great place for night photography since it's located pretty far away from any major city. Unfortunately because of all the forest fire smoke, the valley was pretty hazy, but luckily the sky was still pretty clear, that is everywhere except for the West. The smoke did make the sun look pretty cool, allowing me to take photos of it before it went behind the mountains.

Milky Way

Surprisingly the sky was pretty clear considering all the smoke in the air from the forest fires.

Over the Ridge

I struggled to find things to put in the foreground of the nighttime photography. A picture of just the stars isn't very interesting so I tried to put something in all the shots.

Dark Blue SKy

The sky was a very dark blue color, no matter how I had my white balance set.

The Cabin in the Woods

This was a 13 minute exposure. I wish I would have taken a few more long exposures, but with using long exposure noise reduction, a 13 minute exposure takes 26 minutes to expose since it takes a second photo with the shutter curtain closed so it can calculate noise and subtract it from the first photo.
