Gregory Canyon and Flagstaff Mountain
Katherine and I decided to drive into Boulder for a hike this weekend. Katherine just bought some new hiking boots (so she wouldn't roll her ankle) so we decided to test them out! The hike took up about 2 and a half hours and was a total round trip distance of 4 miles. On the 2 mile journey up, it was 1155 ft of elevation gain. We started down near Chautauqua Park and hiked to the realization point.

Purple Wildflowers
There were a lot of blooming wildflowers around the base of the flatirons, including these Lupines.

Flatirons
Chautauqua always has a great view of the flatirons!

Morning Sun
We got to the trail head at 8:30. It was pretty overcast from all these small clouds, which made the hike up there nice.

Dead Trees
Maybe this wasn't the best place for Katherine to stop and let me take a photo of her since there are a few dead trees in the background.

Two Clouds
At the top of Flagstaff mountain there was a great view of the rest of the Rock Mountains to the West.

Green Mountain
Everything was alive and growing green!

At the Top
We didn't make it all the way to the Flagstaff mountain summit. Boulder just started a new parking program that we had to guess how long we would be hiking. We made it this far to this great view and had to turn back in fear that our time would be up on our parking spot. We looked it up when we were home and we were less than a half mile to the summit. Oh well.
