Julian Dubuque Monument
Katherine and I went up to the Julian Dubuque Monument in the Mines of Spain. We have only been there once before, and the weather was pretty nice for us to be outside for a little while. We ended up on a short hiking trail that we had never been on before that was pretty fun.
Tall Dying Grass

Rotting Fence
We found a trail to walk down. It wasn't very well kept, as seen by this fence, but it was pretty fun because we had to guess where the trail was and even climb around a tree that was knocked over from the winds the night before.
Down the Tracks

We saw several people walking on the tracks, despite this being an active railroad. As we were hiking back up to the car we even heard a train coming. Maybe these people know something we didn't, but we didn't think that was a very good idea.
Bridge Across the Mississippi
The bridge in the background is the bridge that goes between Iowa and Illinois. It's the Julian Dubuque Bridge, and used to be a toll bridge until it paid for itself (luckily we have never had to pay a toll to go across it). We drive across it probably once a month to go into Illinois.
No More Leaves
All the trees in Dubuque are dead and leafless.
