Dubuque Demolition Derby
Katherine and I experienced a demolition derby at the Dubuque county fair. Neither of us had been to a demolition derby before and had no idea what to expect. It was really interesting and pretty much what we though it would be - cars smashing into each other until one is still functioning. This was the second place car for the 4 cylinder competition. Surprisingly, this car did pretty well driving with the tire pretty much detached from the wheel.
Minion Car - Second Place

Massive Pileup
The demolition was pretty exciting. It was funny to see the cars try and build up speed (the ground was wet so they didn't get much traction). There were a few good hits that made cars slide around in the mud.
Muddy Mess
Since the ground was wet, all of the cars got pretty muddy. The mud generally slowed everyone down.
Smoking
It's amazing the amount of damage that cars can take and still function. Many cars would be smoking or have their tires crooked in incredible ways but still function just fine. I guess I wouldn't take any of these cars on the highway, but it's still impressive.
