In 1949, Ed Trumble and Bob Lorenz began their western greeting cards business and chose Lazy RL Ranch as the name. Lorenz designed a letterhead depicting a horse tied to a mailbox, waiting for the mail. The registered Lazy RL brand is shown on the door of the box. When Lorenz died in 1965, Trumble changed the company name to Leanin' Tree.
