Triple Bypass 2016
This weekend was the 28th annual Triple Bypass bicycle ride that took bicyclists 120 miles up and over Vail, Loveland, and Juniper Pass. On Saturday, July 9th, riders started in Evergreen and rode over Juniper Pass (11,104 ft.), Loveland Pass (11,990 ft.), and Vail Pass (10,560 ft.) and finished in Avon. On Sunday, July 10th, riders went the opposite direction starting in Avon and ending in Evergreen. Will does this ride almost every year and Katherine wanted to see him ride. We woke up early (4:30am - yuck!) to get Will to the start of the ride by 5:30. He completed in just under 9.5 hours - very impressive!

Man of the Day
This is Will riding into Idaho Springs after he made it up and over Juniper Pass, the first of three passes in the 28th annual Triple Bypass Bicycle Ride.

Over the First Pass

Determined

Big Smile
There were a lot of smiling people at this stop, despite everyone having just climbed over one of 3 passes in the Triple Bypass Bicycle ride. I appreciated it though, because no one was smiling after they went up any of the other two passes.

In the Lead
I was taking photos right next to an area where police officers were directing traffic. Occasionally they would have to stop the bikers to allow traffic to flow. Once the bikers got going again it made for some great shots.

Smile for the Camera
Will riding through Georgetown right before the difficult climb up and over Loveland Pass during the 28th Annual Triple Bypass.

Away He Goes

Silly Katherine
This is Katherine being goofy while I was taking photos from a distance.

Power up the Hill

The Support Crew
Kim and Katie giving encouragement to all the riders that passed by. Large head of Will was made to support and encourage him.

In a Line
I like this photo because all 3 cyclists are in a line and their shadows are spaced out perfectly.

No Skiing Today
Our next stop was Loveland Ski area. They had a big pit stop area set up in the parking lot for the ski resort.

Snow In the Mountains
I can't believe there is still snow in the mountains!

Running
Katherine was yelling "slow down, I can't keep up!" despite Will riding up hill and having biked uphill for the past 30 miles. He was cycling really fast!

Trying to Keep Up

Thrilled
This was at the Loveland support area. Will stopped for about 10 minutes to grab a quick bit of a banana and take a bathroom break.

On the Road

Wave

Vail Sumit
At the summit of Vail at an altitude of 10,662 feet, Will has finished the last of three climbs and is on the downward stretch to the finish.

Perfect Clouds
This area that we were waiting for Will to ride through was my favorite. We were emerged in all this beautiful scenery!

Up the Hill

Finish Line
Will finishing the 120 miles across 3 passes in just under 9.5 hours at the 28th annual Triple Bypass Bicycle Race! Katie is running beside her father with a giant head she made and couldn't be any more proud! Kim is off in the corner holding a sign for her husband congratulating him that he had finished an amazing ride!

Fist Bump

Eagle River
After the bike race and after we had dinner we all walked down by the river. Since it was starting to get dark outside I took some [photos of the river. It was flowing really fast which made it easy to get this photo!

Fast
I took this photo with a low shutter speed, but fast enough to not make the background blurry.
