Chestnut MountainPosted: January 30, 2016Katherine and I drove 45 minutes into Illinois to go to a different ski resort: Chestnut Mountain, just outside of Galena, Illinois. Skiing to the RiverThis was a really cool ski resort because you skied down to the Mississippi river. In Full GearIt was a pretty warm day, mid 30's, so we were a little toasty by the end of the day.Terrain ParkThey had a pretty cool jump area, but everything was too close together. If there were more than 2 people in this area, you were almost guaranteed to hit someone. Fake MogulsThey had a section with "moguls". They were man made with a snow plow, but Katherine and I went down them once (and only once). We weren't that good. Going to the TopOn the LiftThe lift was only about a 5 minute ride, so I didn't have much time to take photos. I got my phone out several times to take a few quick photos. Like Real MountainsThis ski resort had a lot of conifer trees that made it feel almost like you were skiing on a real mountain.Almost to the Top
