Beauty of the Harvest
Martha Pettigrew b.1950
The Taos Pueblo Indians of New Mexico still cling to many of their old ways. Their 800-year tradition teaches that a plentiful harvest of corn, squash, and beans will sustain life through the long, cold winter. Even today, the spring planting and fall harvest seasons are celebrated with colorful ritual. This Pueblo woman is shown with traditional hair style and clothing.
