Butterflyversary

Last weekend Katherine and I went to the butterfly pavilion on the same day that we did last year when we first started hanging out. She was lucky enough to have a butterfly land on her.

Devils Backbone, Loveland, Colorado

A few weeks ago while Katherine and I were driving up to go camping, we saw these weird rocks. We found out they are devils backbone, and actually span from Loveland to Fort Collins in a 14 mile trail (one way). We didn't hike the 14 mile trail, but we did do a small 2.5 mile loop.

The Royal Arch

Katherine and I went down to Boulder today to hike the Royal Arch. It's only a 4 mile loop, but it was a really tough hike! I don't remember it being that hard at all! We picked a pretty good day to do it. It was mid 80's and didn't rain despite a 10% chance of rain (lucky us!). Overall it was a good hike except that we weren't prepared for it (Chautauqua calls it a "moderate" hike), and we went down the wrong path on the way back (oops!).

Fort Collins Peach Festival 2013

Today was the annual Fort Collins Peach Festival that was actually only about 2 blocks from Katherine's apartment. It was really nice because the parking cost $5 and the admission was free, but since we were parked at her apartment, the whole event was free. It was quite a large turnout, and I was surprised with how many people were actually there. I was, also, extremely disappointed in the lack of peach vendors. There were only a few actual places to buy peaches and one place to get pies. Maybe I'm just spoiled from going to the Lafayette Peach Festival.

4am Hike

This is the sunrise as seen from half way up to the top of Horsetooth Mountain. Katherine and I woke up at 4am to do this hike so that we would both be tired enough to go to bed early for the first day of school tomorrow morning. Too bad my first class is at 3.

Tour De Fat 2013

This morning was the Tour De Fat. It was quite an event. They do a 2ish mile bike ride from old town to city park, and then back to old town. Katherine and I went down there on my bikes and we meet the bike parade already in progress. There were thousands of people and it was insane.
