Spirit of Dubuque Cruise Tour
This is our cruise vessel for the Spirit of Dubuque river tours. Katherine and I went on a 2 hour, 10 mile trip down the Mississippi. The weather never got above 70 degrees, so it wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold (even with the breeze on the river).
Our Vessel

Port of Dubuque
Our ship departed from the Port of Dubuque and went up North to lock and dam #11. It was a pretty smooth ride, and there weren't that many people on the cruise.
Approaching the Train Tracks
There are some train tracks that run across the river from Iowa into Illinois. One of the sections of tracks turns so you can get boats through. Kind of a cool idea.
Mansion on the Hill
This is a mansion that only four people live in. That's a lot of living space for each person.
Hitching a Ride
This fly landed on the ledge right next to us. It's a long way across the Mississippi river, so I'm sure it was happy to get a break.
Dubuque Water Tower
This is the Dubuque water tower in the middle of Eagle Point Park. Katherine and I have been up to Eagle Point Park several times but we've never seen the water tower from this angle before.
Great Day for Flying
During the entire course of the 2 hour tour, Katherine and I saw 3 Eagles, and I caught another one by accident in a different shot (later in this album).
Riding the River
It was a little windy on the Mississippi, but it wasn't too cold which was good.
Eagle Nest and Photobomber
I was taking pictures of this nest and didn't even realize the eagle flying around. The eagle in the upper left hand corner is only in one of my many shots of this nest, what a lucky shot!
Old Toll Bridge
On the tour we learned that the bridge going between Iowa and Illinois used to be a toll bridge until it paid for itself. Good thing that the bridge was already paid for by the time we got here.
